Our Story

The Lord gave a Christian businessman, George Powell, the vision to construct a chapel on a small piece of property that he had owned for many years, yet never used.  The property is approximately one acre, a small pecan orchard, facing US Highway 1. George envisioned a chapel that would bless the community, become a place of prayer and peace, be used by the Lord to give the gospel to those who don't know Jesus Christ, and have a prayer/meditation garden where guests could enjoy a moment of refuge. He began to share this vision with other believers, and with the elected leadership of the town.

The Chapel was built in 2014 with donations and labor of local Christians. After completing the Chapel, the mayor (Al Lewis), city manager (Eddie Wright), and the city council agreed to construct a garden around the Chapel to complete the facility. The Chapel donated the adjacent land to the city, which constructed the garden in 2015. It is a unique public/private partnership for which we give God all the glory.

The Chapel has a simple, informal service every Sunday morning at 11:00 AM, where the focus is prayer and sharing the good news of Jesus. The Chapel is open during daylight hours for the enjoyment of guests; many of whom are local, but some are traveling through the area, stop to pray, or share their prayer requests with us in a drop box. We pray for every need shared with us.

We plan to host special services during Christmas week, so watch for our calendar of events.
